A word from Sideshow Press about BOOGALOOS
Billie and I are very excited to debut Douglas E. Wright's short novel, BOOGALOOS, the premier title in our First Cut line of books. With First Cut, we hope to promote some of the new and undiscovered talents we've stumbled upon in our travels as publishers. The books in this series will be offered in signed/numbered softcover and limited edition hardcover format. The hardcover edition will feature extra fiction and art not found in the softcover. Although the books will be limited to 100 softcover and 50 limited hardcover books, the print run will ultimately be decided through a 60-day pre-order period.
Billie and I have had the pleasure of publishing several of Doug's short stories over the years (those of you who have read Black Ink Horror will recognize his name), so we couldn't be more excited about publishing one of his long works. He's a fantastic writer whose prose is rich with detail and thick with atmosphere. Fans of classic supernatural fiction will feel right at home. The books will be fully-illustrated by the incredibly talented Meghan Hakes. Again, BIH readers will be very familiar with her spectacular pen and ink drawings. I've been a fan of her work for a while now, and I can't wait to showcase some of it in BOOGALOOS.
And, as an added incentive to try out this talented author, we are offering the following:
An introduction by Canadian horror author: Susie Moloney.
Everyone who orders BOOGALOOS will get a free chapbook.
Yup, order either edition of the book and you will receive SWEET THINGS, a chapbook containing two of Doug's stories (and fully illustrated by Meghan Hakes) FOR FREE.Billie and I know times are tough, and we know that it's difficult stretching your book-buying budget, so we figured a little extra fiction/art would sweeten the pot.
Ordering info has been posted up at the Horror Mall (the ONLY place to buy SSP books!). Details are below:
Signed/limited softcover Signed and limited to no more than 100 copies.

BOOGALOOS IS HERE! PRE-ORDER NOW AVAILABLE.
Well everyone,
The day has arrived. My supernatural novella, BOOGALOOS, is up at the Horror Mall on a 90 day pre-order. The book will start shipping at the end of September. At the bottom are the links to buy this book.
Let me say that I am more than thrilled. Not only do I have a novella, I have a novella that is kicking off a new imprint by SIDESHOW PRESS called FIRST CUTS. It is a new line that introduces new writers and their longer works to the market.
With this edition, there are two states. A Hardcover and a Softcover. All of them signed. With the pre-order, there is a free chapbook with every order. On top of that, with the HC pre-order, there’s also a chapter not found in the softcover. It’s called ‘The Lost Chapter: The Ghost Scare of ’79’
Gee, I feel like a commercial.
And wait! That’s not all. There is an introduction to BOOGALOOS by Canadian horror mistress herself, Susie Moloney!
She took the time out of her hictic life to read this book and write me a short intro. Susie ~ you’re the greatest!
Anyway, my website will be updated in the next few hours.
If you are interested, for more info on the book here’s the webpage: http://www.douglasewright.com. Just click on anyplace you see where it says, BOOGALOOS.
And to pick up a copy, just click on the links below.
I thank you all for your interest and waiting for BOOGALOOS to break from its cocoon and fly into the real world.

DARK DREAMERS REVIEW
DARK DREAMERS REVIEW -
If you were interested in the horror genre as a writer, illustrator, FX person or just a horror film connoisseur at the beginning of this century, you might recall a small Canadian television production flying under the banner of Dark Dreamers. This series was a televised companion magazine to the collectable photographic book released by three-time Bram Stoker award winner/interviewer Stanley Wiater, and photographer Beth Gwinn.
This 36 episode television series was released in Canada on the TV Ontario network where it quickly gained a following, not only in Canada, but in the United States as well. However, it was never picked up by a US distributor, therefore, many American Dark Dreamers have only heard of the series while it made it to UK television in 2005.
If you haven’t seen it, now is your chance! If you want to watch it over and over, now is your chance!
I had first heard about the release of this DVD collection in January of 2009. I am one of those who was captivated by the original television series. So, when I heard the two year production was finally being released on DVD, I was ecstatic. I promptly pre-ordered it on Amazon.ca long before the February released date. I finally received it in mid-March. In the USA, Amazon will most likely be quicker on delivery of this product.
I spent the entire weekend watching the interviews, one right after another. I was not disappointed by any. Though, I do not remember all of them, this past weekend each and every interview proved to be a delight. The first DVD opens with Clive Barker which is one of the many highlights of the collection. Then the one on one interviews continued with Canadian writers Nancy Kilpatrick and Edo Van Belkom, both whom I met at the 2007 World Horror Convention in Toronto. Other highlights include Harlan Ellison, Wes Craven, Richard Matheson, John Landis, Peter Straub, Denice Duff and many others. Two interviews were conducted with Forrest J. Ackerman and Stan Winston, both whom have passed away in 2008. So, it was a treat to see these two industry giants on the program.
The only drawback I found was the two year series lacked interviews with Stephen King, Dean Koontz and Mick Garris, though they had been referred to in some of the interviews.
As a horror/suspense writer, this series provided inspiration for me at a critical juncture of my writing career. I found watching it again, the series provided the exhilaration and inspiration all over again. Every interview reminded me why I write in this genre. After watching the complete series, I wholeheartedly recommend this four DVD collection. It’s worth every dime.
I am also told that a whole new series could be in production in the summer of 2009. Time and resources permitting. The plans are to have King, Koontz and Garris along with many other new Dark Dreamers on the show.
For the sake of all the Dark Dreamers out there. Let’s hope so.
We’ll be waiting.
I did a quick search and do not see it for sale at the Horror Mall.
